The museum provides an intimate look into the characters and themes of S. E. Hinton’s classic work and film adaptation, featuring the painstakingly restored house and extensive collections. The director and film crews departed, the actors and props scattered, and the local extras went back to their day to day lives. But, on a quiet Tulsa street corner, the iconic “Curtis Brothers House,” the modest bungalow where the scrappy, close-knit Greasers lived, loved, fought and reconciled, remained a tangible testament to the cinematic legend. Burgess was well-known for a wide variety of other monumental film and television performances (Of Mice and Men Twilight Zone, etc.).

It's been a labor of love for O'Connor, who bought the house several years ago and renovated it. This is Idea House 3, a new iteration of the Walker museum gift shop, which closed during the pandemic. Idea House 3 was inspired by the museum’s Idea House concept of the 1940s, which displayed modern design and contemporary art. Across from Clark, the Walker’s director of business development, is Asli Altay, the Walker’s director of design programming.
